India won the 5 match ODI series 3-1
5th ODI was abandoned due to bad condition of the pitch
After beating Sri Lanka in the Test and Twenty Twenty series against,India also won the ODI series.Among the 5 ODI's Scheduled,the last one dayer in Delhi was abandoned due to an unplayable pitch conditions.The series was launched with the first ODI held at Rajkot,India beat Sri Lanka by 3 runs in a high-scoring thriller.With the in-form Virender Sehwag's whirlwind 146(102) India made a mammoth score of 414.In reply to huge total Sri Lanka mannaged 411 in 50 overs with the help of Dilshan's 160(124),but India finally managed to seal the match in the last over.2nd ODI that was scheduled in Visakapatanam was moved to Nagpur due to internal disturbances in Andhra Pradesh.India once again batting first managed to score 301 with Dhoni's fighting 107,Sri Lanka eased to the target with Dilshan's brilliant 123.They won the match with 3 wickets and 5 balls to spare.Dhoni was suspended for the next two ODI's due to slow over rate in both the matches.With 1 each in the series both the teams moved to Cuttak for the 3rd ODI that was scheduled there.Sri Lanka batting first failed to record a fighting total due to inconsistency of middle order batsmen they just managed 239 in 44.2 overs.Jadeja,the upcoming Indian all rounder bowled a brilliant spell of 4-32 in 10 overs.With Sachin's master class innings of 96* made it quite easy for India and it managed the target in 42.3 overs.In the 4th and series deciding ODI,Sri Lanka managed a challenging 315-6 in 50 overs and with quick wickets of Sehwag(captaining India in the absence of MS Dhoni),Sachin Sri Lanka seemed to be the favourite.But Delhi younggun's Gautam Gambhir(150*) and Virat Kholi(107) with a solid 224 run 3rd wicket partnership sealed the series for India with a lead of 3-1.Final ODI in Delhi was abandoned after 23.3 overs bowled,India winning the toss invited Sri Lanka to bat.Taranga was sent back to pavilion by Zaher for the first ball he faced.Later batsmen struggled a lot playing on a pitch where the bounce was quite uneven.After a long inspection the officials decided to call off the match.There by India finished victorious over the Sri Lanka in all the there formats of the game.Tillakaratne Dilshan was the top-scorer of the series with a mammoth 353 runs at an astounding average of 70.60. Sachin Tendulkar top scored for India with 216 runs followed by the Sehwag and Gambhir.
